Dr Carr-Boyd offers specialist surgical care for cancer and other conditions of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and stomach, including weight loss (bariatric) surgery. He has specific training and a strong interest in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery, as well as endoscopy.
As part of his practice, Dr Carr-Boyd provides expert assessment and management of a wide range of gastrointestinal and abdominal conditions. This includes the evaluation and treatment of gallbladder disease, hernias, abdominal pain, reflux and dyspepsia, haemorrhoids, as well as skin and soft tissue lesions. He offers timely access to specialist consultations, diagnostic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and utilises minimally invasive techniques where appropriate to support faster recovery and improved outcomes.
Dr Carr-Boyd obtained his medical degree from The University of Sydney and went on to achieve his FRACS in General Surgery. He completed two years of sub-specialty training in HPB/UGI surgery at Auckland City Hospital and The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, followed by a further two years focusing on adult and paediatric transplantation with The New Zealand Transplant Unit and The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. While in the USA, he completed the UPMC Advanced Robotics Training Program.
Dr Carr-Boyd also holds a Master of Surgery, with a research focus on colorectal cancer liver metastases, and is currently undertaking the Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership Program. He is accredited by GESA to perform gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and is a member of ANZHPBA, ANZGOSA, IHPBA, ILTS and IPTA.
